The actress Naomie Ackie

Currently, the film biography “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” about the life and career of Whitney Houston is in theaters. In it, actress Naomi Ackie plays the main role of young and adult Whitney and, like her, was born under the charismatic sun sign of Leo. Representatives of this sign are found more often than average in the spotlight, on a stage and with their own person (Sun) standing in the centerLeo). For this they have a natural strength and the necessary self-confidence.

With her Sun/Venus/Jupiter/Mercury conjunction in the radix, Ackie is a first-rate embodiment of Houston’s beautiful (Venus) and dazzling personality (Leo Sun), with the towering voice (Jupiter/Mercury). From an astrological point of view, the role is made for her, as well as this equally promotes her own success (Sun/Jupiter).

As an actress (Neptune), she already realizes a potential life destiny (MK) in this incarnation with her Uranus/Neptune/Moon Node conjunction. Due to the supporting trine to Mars, she can flexibly and quickly (Uranus) empathize with an acting role (Neptune) and act in it accordingly (Mars).

Synastry Clive Davis and Whitney Houston

I became aware of the film through an astrologer friend who had already written an insightful interpretation of Houston’s radix. So in this post, I want to focus on a significant relationship from her life.

The film particularly highlights the trusting (Jupiter) and friendly (Venus) relationship between her and music producer Clive Davis. Davis is one of America’s most important producers and discovered numerous famous stars, including Aerosmith, Springsteen, Santana, Alan Jackson, Janis Joplin! But with over 200 million records sold, Houston is still one of the most successful singers of all time and became the first megastar of his own label, Arista Records. She was considered “THE great voice of her generation”.

What did the synastry of the two look like, I asked myself following the film? Shouldn’t it have been crowned with success?

In fact, the mutual emphasis of the Sun and Jupiter (what you believe in where you succeed) immediately catches the eye. Davis placed his Jupiter exactly in Housten’s Sun/Venus conjunction in the 6th house. This is especially a good synastry aspect for a successful working relationship (6th house), where both motivated each other instead of criticizing each other. Davis believed (Jupiter) in her (Sun) and appreciated (Jupiter) her work (6th house). His Jupiter strengthened her confidence in herself and awareness (Jupiter) of her realization potential (Sun). He always behaved tolerantly towards her and, as mentioned in the film, never interfered in her private life in a know-it-all way (Jupiter neg.). Whitney himself (Sun) in turn increased his success as a producer and increased his income (Jupiter).

Further, Davis’ Jupiter formed a fortunate trine to Houston’s Moon/Jupiter conjunction in the 2nd house of money. Under his contract and sponsorship (Jupiter), she also achieved financial wealth (trine Jupiter in her 2nd house). So with Jupiter trine Jupiter they believed in mutual success and enriched each other.

Jupiter and Moon well placed to each other means that both felt comfortable and familiar with each other. In working with Davis, (Moon) Houston felt encouraged and supported by him (Jupiter). She could entrust her soul life (Moon) to him in a very natural way (trine Jupiter).

Not enough, Houston’s Moon/Jupiter conjunction is again exactly on Clive Davis’ Sun. So they both place their Jupiter in conjunction to each other’s Sun. In the interpretation, therefore, similar things apply as in the first paragraph, with only the essential difference that Davis was the clearly older and, as her producer, an authority figure for her.

Father issue

At this point I must point out an important aspect of Houston’s birth chart. Her Sun was injured in opposition to Saturn (seeking recognition from the father for the right place as a child) and in square to Neptune (cheating/lying/drugs). Her father (Sun), who was her strict manager (Saturn) for many years, cheated and lied (Neptune) to his own daughter about sums of money worth millions. At the end of her career, almost nothing was left of her fortune (Sun/Saturn). Her father even sued (Saturn) for 100 million Euros from the contract with Arista Records, because he saw himself as the driving force behind it. This T-square in her radix was also reflected in Bobby Brown, whom she had chosen to be her husband (Sun). Brown, like her, was heavily addicted to drugs (Sun/Neptune neg.) and kept dragging her deeper into it instead of being a support (Saturn) for her. Unfortunately, after numerous withdrawals (Saturn) she did not manage to stay abstinent (Saturn) and the drug addiction became her undoing in the end (Sun/Neptune/Saturn violated).

Clive Davis, on the other hand, we might even consider as a kind of surrogate father on a soul level, at least an older man with authority (Sun/Saturn), but whom Houston could trust unconditionally (his Sun on her Moon/Jupiter and in trine to her Sun/Venus). Despite her Sun being injured in the radix, she found this in Davis, as they both had a benevolent planetary position to each other.

Their two suns were also in trine to each other. In their respective personality development they did not stand in each other’s way (Sun trine Sun) and indulged each other’s success and greatness. In spirit (Sun) they most likely shared a similar worldview and the same values (Jupiter).

It is noticeable that the Sun and Moon each receive no injurious aspects from Mars or Saturn. In a synastry, these would be signs of increased conflict potential (Mars) or mutual obstructions (Saturn). A negative effect of their synastry could therefore have been rather overly optimistic and exuberant feelings (Moon/Jupiter). People usually did not like to talk about existing problems or necessary corrections, but enjoyed the time in a good mood.

Finally, from the point of view of reincarnation astrology, a connection of sun and moon indicates that one (sun) already knew each other in a previous embodiment (moon) and was close to each other (moon). Often familial as well. Since both main lights were well placed to each other here, it is an indication of a good karmic relationship, which again found a friendly and successful expression in this life.

So with so much positive Jupiter, this synastry was actually crowned with mutual trust, growth, goodwill, favor, wealth and success.
